Cavit limits the use of pesticides and practices eco-sustainable farming including cover crops, sustainable pest control, and natural fertilizers.

In an effort to reduce water waste, we have installed modern industrial systems that utilize a high precision irrigation process, using water only when necessary.

Cavit cases use 99% recycled cardboard.

All Cavit labels and cases are printed using water-based ink that is solvent-free and contain no chemical compounds.

Glass used to produce Cavit wine bottles is 80% recycled glass.

We have transitioned to lighter bottles, which in turn allows us to reduce transport and handling weights, thus minimizing the impact on the environment and reducing our carbon footprint.

We have installed 3,200 solar panels on top of our warehouse and production facility.

These panels generate around 800 Mwh (megawatt hours) per year, and power 66% of electricity during the production process.

Our Story

History

Combine more than a half-century of winemaking expertise, the dramatic landscape and terroir of northern Italy, and a profound enjoyment of the good things in life. The result: the Cavit Collection, source of America’s #1 Italian wine*.

Cavit swept onto the radar of American wine lovers in the 1970s as a pioneer of a then little-known white wine called Pinot Grigio. Prized for its crisp, elegant character, fruit flavors and delicate floral aroma, Pinot Grigio is a demanding grape to cultivate, but has flourished in northern Italy for over a century.  Cavit has consistently championed this varietal in the U.S., earning its well-deserved title of America’s #1 Italian Pinot Grigio*. Additionally, Cavit produces a full range of high-quality, approachable and food-friendly wines including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Moscato, Oak Zero Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Prosecco, Prosecco Rosé, Rosé, Select Red Blend, and Sweet Red.

Our Home

Northern Italy

The Cavit winery is located in Trentino, Italy, a picturesque landscape of mountains, lakes, apple orchards and medieval castles. Vineyards in this region enjoy the warming effects of the “Ora del Garda,” a dry, balmy breeze that sweeps across nearby Lake Garda and protects the fruit from moisture and disease. Contrastingly cool evenings promote rich, intense aromas and flavors in the grapes.

Fabrizio Marinconz

Cavit Winemaker

Born and bred right in Trentino, it was only natural for Fabrizio to find a home at Cavit. He received his degree in Viticulture and Enology in 2005 from S. Michele all’Adige Agricultural Institute and Hochschule Geisenheim (Germany) before joining Cavit in late 2006 as vineyard technician. This early experience working every day with the Cavit winegrowers in the vineyards gave him an incredible base to build his career as a winemaker. In 2010, he was promoted to join the winemaking team alongside chief winemaker, Anselmo Martini, until his retirement in 2020. Fabrizio was then given the key position of Associate Winemaker and is proudly responsible for the production of all the Cavit still wines.
